As the days tick past the original launch date of 14 August (curse you Covid-19) we were treated to our first proper look at Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah. The latest trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, shown during its panel at DC FanDome over the weekend.
There’s now just over a month until the films new release date in cinemas, 2 October. And there’s plenty to be excited about and plenty of discussion points in this Wonder Woman 1984 trailer from Warner Bros.
The trailer is mostly new footage. We see a lot of Maxwell Lord IV with Dr. Barbara Minerva before becoming Cheetah.
Lord is promising the world that they can get anything that they want. We can assume that’s what brings about the return of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) as Lord uses the ‘dream stone’. But to get something you want you must lose something too.
It looks like Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince will lose her powers as Wonder Woman to Barbara Minerva. This happens as Cheetah becomes stronger. But in turn, Barbara loses her humanity and becomes increasingly feline in appearance.
The question is does Diana have to give Steve up forever to get her powers back or not? Will they get to live happily ever after? Probably not.
We’ll find out in a few weeks.
